Notes from the sheets.
Access is the whole project. Nothing here was shot in a day, because nobody lets a stranger into a working kitchen for a day. The photographer asks, is refused, comes back, and is eventually allowed to stand in a corner.
The rule
No portraits of people looking at the camera, and no frame that needed the work to stop. If a shift paused for the picture, the picture is not filed.
Where it has been
A cannery, a call centre, two hospital laundries, a shipyard, a slaughterhouse, three kitchens, a sorting office, and a data centre that took two years to get into and allowed forty minutes.
Captions
Written with the person in the frame, in their words where they wanted them, and read back before the sheet was filed. Where somebody asked not to be identifiable, the frame stays in the archive and is never licensed.
